On the 4th, the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul announced that it had sent President Kim to the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office without detention on the 27th of last month on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act.

According to the police, President Kim is accused of asking members of the Senior Citizens Association to vote for the Senior Welfare Party in the proportional representation vote last March, a month before the 22nd general election.

According to the Public Official Election Act, it is prohibited to conduct election campaigns using positions within an organization or to conduct election campaigns in the name of the representative in an organization where a candidate's family member is an executive.

At that time, it was confirmed that Kim Hyo-jin, Kim's younger brother, was registered as a proportional representation candidate for the Senior Welfare Party. Kim had previously served as a director of the Senior Citizens Association.
