A woman in her twenties was arrested after committing indiscriminate violence out of anger when the arm of a young boy sitting next to her on a city bus brushed against her knee.
According to the Busanjin Police Station, Ms. A assaulted the face of a 4-year-old boy sitting next to her on a bus passing near Gaya Station in Busanjin-gu at around 8:20 a.m. on the 2nd, claiming that the child's arm had touched her knee.
When the boy's grandmother, who was in her 60s and holding the child at the time, tried to stop her, Ms. A bit the grandmother's arm, causing injury.
The police have arrested Ms. A on charges of inflicting bodily harm and are investigating the case.
This incident sparked outrage after a post titled "Busan Bus Child and Elderly Assault Incident" appeared on an online community on the 2nd.
Ms. B, who introduced herself as the mother of two children, wrote, "Since both my husband and I work, my mother-in-law, who often helps me, offered to take care of my second child on the holiday, the 1st. The incident occurred the next day, on the 2nd, while she was bringing the child home to send to kindergarten."
Ms. B continued, "After the woman's assault, my child's nose started bleeding from both nostrils. My mother-in-law instinctively tried to shield the child's face with both arms, but the woman grabbed one of her arms and bit it. The bus stopped, and thankfully, other passengers helped to stop her and called the police."
According to the post, another female passenger actively intervened to stop Ms. A's assault and provided assistance.
It has been reported that Ms. A claimed to have anger management disorder.
The police plan to take legal action against Ms. A after thoroughly investigating the circumstances.
