Inauguration Ceremony for the Establishment of the Civil-Government-Military National Assembly Communication Council Agreement
Pocheon City held a signing ceremony on the 30th of last month to establish a public-private-military National Assembly communication council for communication related to the "Act on Prevention of Noise from Military Airfields and Military Shooting Ranges and Compensation for Damage." Gyeonggi Pocheon City (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 2nd that it held a public-private-military National Assembly communication council agreement ceremony on the 30th of last month to facilitate communication regarding the 'Act on Prevention of Noise from Military Airfields and Shooting Ranges and Compensation for Damage.'
At the agreement ceremony, Kim Jong-hoon, Deputy Mayor of Pocheon City, Kang Tae-il, Chairman of the Citizens' Countermeasure Committee for Military Facilities including the Pocheon Shooting Range, Kim Sung-min, Commander of the 5th Corps, and National Assembly member Kim Yong-tae attended. They gathered residents' opinions related to noise damage compensation around military airfields and shooting ranges in the Pocheon area and discussed forming and operating a communication council to establish a stable foundation for military activities.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲formation and operation of the Pocheon area communication council ▲collection of residents' opinions on compensation for training ground noise damage ▲activities for revising laws related to noise prevention and damage compensation ▲analysis of progress and discussion of future initiatives.
Deputy Mayor Kim Jong-hoon of Pocheon City said, “We have established a communication council with the National Assembly to reflect residents' opinions on noise damage caused by military facilities such as the Yeongpyeong Training Ground, Seungjin Scientific Training Ground, and the 15th Aviation Brigade in Pocheon,” adding, “The public, private, and military sectors and the National Assembly will do their best from their respective positions to ensure fair compensation for residents suffering special damage from military noise.”
