"If You Don't Care, You Can't See": 'The Little Prince' Chungnam Dialect Edition Published in Germany

"Goodbye. Yesu told you, right? I'll tell you my most special secret. It's really simple. You have to see it with your heart. The important things are invisible to the eye."

Antoine de Saint-Exupery's "The Little Prince" has been translated into the Chungnam dialect and published in Germany.

The Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Government announced on the 2nd that, in collaboration with its German office and Tintenfass Publishing in Germany, it has published the Chungnam dialect edition of "The Little Prince" on Amazon's online bookstore.

Tintenfass Publishing has been translating and publishing "The Little Prince" in unique languages from around the world to respect linguistic diversity and preserve indigenous cultures.

So far, a total of 219 editions have been introduced, including European regional dialects, Egyptian hieroglyphs, Morse code, and more.

The Chungnam dialect edition features the participation of Lee Myeongjae, a Chungcheong language researcher and writer based in Yesan-gun, who captured the language and sentiments of children in the Chungnam region around 1943, when the first edition of "The Little Prince" was published.

An official from the provincial government stated, "We plan to use this book to develop collaborative projects with the Korean Education Center in Germany and five German universities that have established Korean language departments," adding, "Domestically, we will continue various cultural projects, such as using it as the theme book for the essay contest at the upcoming dialect competition on the 11th."
