Attorney Kim Kyuhyun, the whistleblower in the lobbying allegations to save former Marine Corps 1st Division Commander Lim Seonggeun, was questioned by the police.
According to the police on the 1st, the Mapo Police Station in Seoul summoned Attorney Kim as a suspect the previous day and investigated him for about two hours. Attorney Kim had reported lobbying allegations to the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) and the media last June, based on conversations and recordings from the "Meotjaeng Haebyeong" KakaoTalk group chat.
The chat group included Lee Jongho, former CEO of Black Pearl Investment, who is currently on trial for stock manipulation allegations related to Deutsche Motors involving First Lady Kim Keonhee, and Song Hojong, a former member of the Presidential Security Service.
Song and others filed a defamation lawsuit against Attorney Kim and the related media outlets for spreading false information. The People Power Party is also reported to have filed a complaint against Attorney Kim for obstructing media operations by submitting false reports.
