BIM (Building Information Modeling) Technology on Construction Sites
Kolon Global has developed the country's first rebar construction management platform that reduces the possibility of rebar omission and poor construction.
Kolon Global announced on the 30th that it has completed the first phase of development of the rebar construction management platform, "Smart Checker," and is currently verifying its effectiveness by applying it to apartment construction sites.

The Smart Checker platform is a system based on BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology designed to improve construction quality and minimize human errors that may occur during rebar assembly. To this end, Kolon Global signed a business agreement with Changsoft I&I, a domestic IT company specializing in BIM solutions, in September last year, and through continuous research and development, succeeded in linking BIM technology to rebar construction management for the first time among domestic construction companies.
By utilizing Smart Checker, a thorough review is conducted on rebar shop drawings that visually represent the placement and shape of rebar. During construction, it inspects in real time for omissions and incorrect installations and shares the results.
The Smart Checker system includes a step-by-step checking system: first, reviewing the accuracy of rebar shop drawings; second, identifying incorrect installations through analysis of rebar construction photos; and third, AI-based analysis of site photos,
which is expected to dramatically prevent errors caused by on-site workers.
A Kolon Global official stated, "Based on the results of this field application, we plan to enhance the system's functions," adding, "We will expand the on-site application of the Smart Checker system to strengthen the safety of structural work, which greatly affects the safety of the public's housing."
Meanwhile, Kolon Global is accelerating digital transformation and smart construction by actively adopting proptech technologies such as BIM. Since 2018, BIM technology has been applied to all sites, and BIM education and competitions are conducted for all employees. Kolon Global is striving for the highest construction quality by developing and applying a rebar monitoring system on-site and implementing a dual safety reinforcement system during structural work.
