Creating a Nature-Friendly Outdoor Garden to Fully Experience the Four Seasons of Bulamsan
Spacious Lawn Yard... Forest Playground Provided for Children to Play Freely
Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that it has created the 'Bulamsan Picnic Area' to safely and enjoyably experience the four seasons of Bulamsan.
The Bulamsan Picnic Area is an outdoor picnic site covering 2,500㎡ located near the Bulamsan Healing Center in Junggye-dong, San 101-6 area. In addition to the natural environment of Bulamsan, the space was designed with user-oriented facilities and content development to provide residents with a leisure space that aids in healing.
First, from the planning stage, the district focused on designing the area to allow visitors to feel the beautiful nature of Bulamsan throughout the seasons. This was to concentrate on the atmosphere and charm of the outdoor picnic area.
To this end, the district specially considered the flow lines of nearby high schools and apartment complexes to maximize the view of Bulamsan, and planted various types of flowers and trees along the boundary zones to create an urban natural resting place where visitors can enjoy diverse scenery all year round.
In the approximately 670㎡ lawn yard, soft natural grass was planted to allow visitors to fully enjoy the feeling of playing in nature. Convenience facilities such as ▲five Indian tents ▲fourteen pyeongsang (traditional Korean wooden platforms) ▲eight outdoor tables were also installed to enhance user convenience.
In front of the Indian tents, emotional parasols, camping tables, and chairs are provided, and various emotional props such as waterproof mats and rattan baskets that can enhance the picnic atmosphere are available for free rental, reducing visitors’ hassle in preparing for picnics.
On one side of the lawn yard, a forest playground was created where children can run freely. Various play facilities that stimulate children’s curiosity, such as ▲three swings and ▲one net playground, were installed to add fun.
Lastly, an emotional photo zone was set up using a ▲caravan (one unit) that captures the camping and picnic vibe, allowing families, couples, and friends to commemorate their precious time together.
The Bulamsan Picnic Area operates from Tuesday to Sunday. During the spring, autumn, and summer seasons (March to October), it is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and during the winter season (November to February), from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. However, for visitor safety and lawn hygiene management, pets are not allowed, and the use of audio devices such as Bluetooth speakers is prohibited to maintain a peaceful resting atmosphere.
Additionally, cooking, drinking alcohol, and smoking are prohibited except for simple eating, and visitors must take their trash with them. Detailed usage rules can be found on the district office website.
Meanwhile, the district will hold an opening ceremony at 4:30 p.m. on October 10 to celebrate the successful creation of the Bulamsan Picnic Area. About 150 people, including the mayor, city and district council members, and local residents, will attend, with progress reports and facility tours planned.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, said, “With the completion of the picnic area following the Bulamsan Butterfly Garden, azalea hill, barrier-free circular walking trail, and elevator observatory, the Bulamsan Healing Town is now complete. We will continue to ensure flawless operation so that many people can fully feel nature and rest comfortably in the city.”
