Vertigogae Hills Where Gong Hyo-jin and Shim Eun-ha Reside
Actor Han Ga-in (real name Kim Hyun-joo) and Yeon Jung-hoon, a married couple, revealed their home for the first time in 19 years of marriage. It is located in 'Mokmyeokjae' in Sindang-dong, Jung-gu, a newly emerging affluent neighborhood known as Vertigo Hillz.
On the 26th, Han Ga-in showcased a house tour video as the first content on her YouTube channel 'Free Lady Han Ga-in.' Han said, "I tidied up the house for the filming. It took about 3 to 4 weeks to get it into this state." She added, "With the kids going to and from school, their education and care, and managing my own schedule, I gave up on cleaning. If I cleaned, I think I would collapse, but I don’t call a cleaning helper because I’m afraid people will say 'Han Ga-in lives messily.' When the cleaning helper is supposed to come, I end up cleaning myself," revealing that she manages the household chores personally.
During filming, the production team asked, "Why does the house feel so empty?" and she replied, "There’s a bit of howling, and because there are so few things, there’s an echo." This highlighted the spacious and neat nature of the home. Although the entire house was not shown, the video included the living room with framed solo photos of the couple side by side, a playroom filled with books for the children, and a large dining room capable of hosting multiple guests.
Vertigo Hill is a high-altitude area close to Namsan, known for its fresh air and low foot traffic, making it a preferred location for famous stars as well as wealthy property owners. It is sometimes compared to the luxurious residential area 'Beverly Hills' in the west of Los Angeles, California, and is thus called 'Vertigo Hillz' or 'Vertihills.'
Mokmyeokjae is a luxury villa completed in 2010, housing only nine households. It is an 8-minute walk from Vertigo Hill Station on Subway Line 6. The unit owned by Han Ga-in has a supply area of 191.08㎡ (57 pyeong) and an exclusive area of 156.08㎡ (47 pyeong). She purchased it for 2.2 billion KRW in December 2014. Actor Gong Yoo also bought a unit in the same building and lived on the lower floor for 4 years and 3 months before selling it in May 2020 for 2.138 billion KRW. The capital gain was 158 million KRW, which is not very profitable after deducting property tax and acquisition tax.
Nearby neighbors include actor Shim Eun-ha and her husband, former National Assembly member Ji Sang-wook, who are renting a villa-type apartment in Namsan Forest House, Sindang-dong, Jung-gu, with an exclusive area of 219.89㎡. The reported rent deposit they signed is about 1.7 billion KRW. In April 2021, a 4th-floor unit of the same size was sold for 2.8 billion KRW. Gong Hyo-jin purchased and resides in a unit of Namsan Hyundai Villa located about 60 meters away in a straight line. The unit Gong Hyo-jin bought has an exclusive area of 147.87㎡ and was purchased in July 2016 for about 1.2 billion KRW. Recently, a unit with an exclusive area of 168.69㎡ was listed for sale at 3 billion KRW.
