During this visit, Commissioner General Jo emphasized that based on the comprehensive strategic partnership that has cooperated in various fields with Vietnam over the past several years, successful security achievements have been made. The two countries have established an effective model of security cooperation in areas such as forensic science, traffic accident prevention, and criminal extradition.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated, "Security cooperation between Korea and Vietnam is recognized as a model case worldwide," and added, "Police cooperation between the two countries will continue to be strengthened." Commissioner General Jo responded, "Through various cooperative initiatives, including the newly launched 'Vietnam Forensic Capability Enhancement Project' focusing on bloodstain and fire investigation starting next year, we will be able to protect a safer and more peaceful daily life for both Vietnamese citizens and our nationals residing in Vietnam."
The National Police Agency has transferred technologies related to on-site evidence analysis, DNA examination, digital forensics, and traffic accident prevention and investigation techniques to the Vietnamese Public Security through four rounds of Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects. The police forces of both countries conducted a joint investigation that led to the arrest of a criminal organization operating an illegal gambling site worth approximately 15 billion won in Hanoi, becoming a model case of international cooperation.
A National Police Agency official said, "Through this visit, Korea and Vietnam shared the recognition that solid security cooperation forms a firm foundation for expanding exchanges in various fields such as economy, society, and culture, and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening security cooperation in the future," adding, "We plan to continue promoting mutual benefits and playing a leading role in international cooperation in the fields of security and law enforcement."
