Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is considering establishing a 'Pregnancy Support Fund' starting next year as part of its birth promotion measures.
The city announced on the 27th that it discussed this plan at the major work report meeting for next year held on the 26th in the city hall video conference room, presided over by Mayor Lee Sang-il.

In the report, the city decided to promote a plan to provide a pregnancy support fund of 300,000 KRW in local currency to pregnant women who are over 20 weeks pregnant and have been registered residents of the city for more than 180 days starting next year to actively encourage childbirth.
The city also discussed a plan to pay young people who purchase their first home an interest of 1% on their loan balance up to a limit of 1 million KRW, and to commemorate the 80th anniversary of liberation, to increase the honorary allowance for veterans from 70,000 KRW to 100,000 KRW for those aged 80 and over, and from 30,000 KRW to 50,000 KRW for those under 80.
To spread a culture of reading, the city plans to install smart libraries in Yeokbuk-dong, Cheoin-gu, Mabuk-dong, Giheung-gu, and Sangha-dong, and remodel the Guseong Library to reopen it within the year.
Other reports included ▲establishing an AI-based CCTV infrastructure in the city hall ▲sending local tax payment notifications via KakaoTalk ▲expanding and diversifying the Yongin-type Future Education Cooperation District project ▲progress on the construction of the Disabled Persons' Hall ▲support for revitalizing Yongin Central Market ▲and developing Joayang food tourism products using Baekok rice.
Mayor Lee ordered that the Giheung National Sports Center, opening in July next year, be equipped with family shower rooms and changing rooms for family visitors with disabled persons or children. He also instructed to meticulously analyze the effectiveness of policies when operating the Yongin brand pavilion at major international exhibitions or promoting region-specific employment support programs, and to consider reorganizing projects with low cost-effectiveness.
Mayor Lee said, "Next year as well, I ask each department to pool wisdom and strive to discover policies that improve the quality of life for citizens," and especially, "Since there will likely be significant constraints in budget allocation due to revenue limits next year, please prioritize projects well to ensure rational budget allocation."
The city plans to hold additional report meetings on the 11th and 17th of next month to review policy goals and key tasks by departments, bureaus, and collaborative institutions.
