This is the "special mission" given to the International Team participating in the 2024 Presidents Cup. The Presidents Cup, an intercontinental golf competition for the International Team excluding the United States and Europe, kicked off on the 26th (local time) at the Royal Montreal Golf Club in Montreal, Canada. The International Team has suffered nine consecutive losses since their victory at the 1998 Melbourne, Australia tournament. This year’s Presidents Cup, led by the Korean contingent aiming to break the losing streak, is analyzed entirely through numbers.

▲0= Prize money for the tournament winner. Honor matters more than money.

▲4= Number of Korean players on the International Team. Im Sung-jae, Kim Joo-hyung, An Byeong-hun, and Kim Si-woo made the roster. This ties the record for the most Korean players participating, matching the 2022 tournament.

▲5= Highest points scored in the tournament. Six players have achieved this: Mark O'Meara (1996), Tiger Woods (2009), Jordan Spieth (2022, all USA), and Brandon Grace (South Africa).

▲6= Number of first-time participants. Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman, Russell Henley, Sahith Theegala (all USA), Mackenzie Hughes (Canada), and Minwoo Lee (Australia) debuted at the Presidents Cup.

▲7= World ranking of Hideki Matsuyama (Japan) from the International Team. He is the only player ranked in the ‘Top 10’. The USA team features five ‘Top 10’ players: Scottie Scheffler (1st), Xander Schauffele (2nd), Collin Morikawa (4th), Clark (6th), and Patrick Cantlay (9th).

▲11= Most appearances by Adam Scott (Australia) on the International Team. He participated in 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2024. His tournament record is 18 wins, 25 losses, and 6 draws. The player with the most Presidents Cup appearances is Phil Mickelson (USA) with 12.

▲15= Number of tournaments held. The USA team holds a dominant record of 12 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss. A win earns 1 point, a draw 0.5 points. Securing 15.5 points over four days guarantees victory.

▲22= Age of Kim Joo-hyung, the youngest player among the 24 participants on the International Team. The youngest on the USA team is Sahith Theegala at 26. The youngest player ever is Ryo Ishikawa (Japan) at 18 years and 21 days, and the oldest is Jay Haas (USA) at 49 years and 353 days.

▲24.55= Daily admission fee for the tournament, in Canadian dollars.

▲30= Total number of matches. The first day features 5 four-ball matches (each player plays their own ball, and the better score on each hole counts for the team), followed by 5 foursome matches (two players alternate shots with one ball) on the second day, 4 four-ball matches in the morning and 4 foursome matches in the afternoon on the third day, and 12 singles matches on the final day.

▲32.5= Phil Mickelson’s total points earned in the tournament’s history. His record stands at 26 wins, 13 draws, and 16 losses.

▲1994= Year the tournament was established. The USA team won 20-12 at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia.

▲2500= Spectator capacity at the 1st hole of the Montreal Golf Club. This area allows for enthusiastic cheering.

▲7413= Course length for this year’s tournament, par 70.
