Pocheon City held the "2024 Pocheon City Childcare Workers' Day" event on the 25th at the Pocheon Banwol Art Hall Small Theater. Gyeonggi Pocheon City (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 26th that it held the ‘2024 Pocheon City Childcare Workers' Day’ event on the 25th at the Pocheon Banwol Art Hall Small Theater.
‘Pocheon City Childcare Workers' Day’ is an event organized to appreciate and encourage the hard work of childcare workers at daycare centers. Attendees included Baek Young-hyun, Mayor of Pocheon, Im Jong-hoon, Chairman of the Pocheon City Council, Choi Mi-young, President of the Pocheon City Daycare Center Association, as well as chairpersons from the national/public, private, and home daycare center associations.
The event proceeded with a video screening depicting a day in the life of childcare workers, followed by an opening address, congratulatory speeches, award presentations, and a pledge performance by the childcare workers.
Additionally, Mayor Baek Young-hyun presented awards to over 40 childcare contributors who have significantly contributed to the development of infant and toddler care, as well as to daycare centers operating excellent childcare programs.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “I sincerely thank all childcare workers who strive in the field to realize ‘Pocheon, where happiness is achieved together with children.’ We will continue to do our best to improve the childcare environment to repay your hard work and actively resolve difficulties faced in the childcare field.”
Meanwhile, Pocheon City is pursuing childcare and parenting policies that parents raising children can tangibly feel, aiming to realize ‘Pocheon, where happiness is achieved together with children.’
In July, the city was selected as a pilot area for the Education Development Special Zone project and secured approximately 10 billion KRW in childcare and education budgets over the next three years. It is currently constructing an integrated childcare support center that consolidates scattered infant and toddler care and daycare facilities into one location, which can be used not only for child care but also as a family leisure facility.
Furthermore, to alleviate the parenting burden on parents, the city is promoting a voucher support project for one special skill per child and the establishment of demand-tailored daycare centers.
