Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, visited the 'Senior Line Dance Competition' held on the morning of the 21st at Yeomni Sports Center.
The Senior Line Dance Gymnastics Competition, hosted by the Mapo Sports Club and sponsored by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Sports Council, was successfully held to promote the health of seniors and foster community harmony.
The participants were approximately 330 seniors aged 65 and older residing in Seoul. The competition categories included 10 teams in the 65 and older division and 10 teams in the 75 and older division, totaling 20 teams. Awards were given to 1 grand prize team, 2 excellence award teams, 2 merit award teams, and 5 encouragement award teams per age division.
Mapo District opens its sports facilities 365 days a year to promote residents' health. The Mapo Sports Club, which organized this competition, has also been open year-round since 2023, and as a result, received the national top prize in the Sports Club Best Practice Contest this year.
On this day, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, said, "Seeing the seniors show a 'big dance' along with the cool autumn breeze makes me feel healthier myself," adding, "The senior dance competition clearly demonstrates the effect of opening sports facilities 365 days a year in Mapo District, and we will do our best to ensure that such competitions can be held annually."
