Daehan Electric Wire Donates 100 Million Won to Vietnam for Typhoon 'Yagi' Damage Relief

Daehan Electric Wire announced on the 20th that it will donate 2 billion VND (approximately 100 million KRW) to help Vietnamese residents affected by the typhoon.


On the previous day, Daehan Electric Wire held a donation agreement ceremony at the Embassy of Vietnam in Jongno-gu, Seoul, attended by Vu Ho, the Ambassador of Vietnam to Korea, and Song Jong-min, Vice Chairman and CEO of Daehan Electric Wire.


The donation will be delivered through Daehan VINA, Daehan Electric Wire's production subsidiary in Vietnam. It will be used to support disaster victims and recovery efforts in the northern region of Vietnam, which suffered significant damage from Typhoon Yagi.


The northern part of Vietnam experienced landslides and floods due to the typhoon, resulting in hundreds of deaths and flooding and burial of houses and farmland.

At the agreement ceremony, Vice Chairman Song Jong-min said, "We extend our deepest condolences to the disaster victims who have lost their homes and are suffering due to the severe damage in Vietnam. We will do our best to help the Vietnamese residents in the affected areas overcome the disaster situation and return to their daily lives as soon as possible."


Hoban Group, to which Daehan Electric Wire belongs, has a close relationship with Vietnam. Kim Sang-yeol, founder of Hoban Group and chairman of Seoul Shinmun, served as the Honorary Consul General of Gwangju and Jeonnam for Vietnam for six years from 2015, contributing to the promotion of Korea-Vietnam friendship. In 2021, he received the Friendship Order, the highest honor awarded to foreigners by the Vietnamese government.


Daehan VINA, Daehan Electric Wire's production subsidiary in Vietnam, was established in 2005 and currently produces various products such as high-voltage and medium-low voltage power cables and communication cables in Ho Chi Minh City. Approximately 300 employees work there, and the company continues to expand its facilities and technology investments to meet the demand of the global cable market.
