Yongin Citizen's Day, Cyber Science Festival, Food Industry Expo, and More
Exciting Events Including Athlete Woo Sang-hyeok's Autograph Session and Science Escape Room Experience
'2024 Yongin Citizen Festa,' the representative festival of Yongin in Gyeonggi Province, will be held on the 28th and 29th at Yongin Mir Stadium in Samga-dong, Cheoin-gu.
This year's festival will integrate various events including ▲Yongin Citizen's Day Commemoration ▲Yongin Cyber Science Festival ▲Yongin Food Festa ▲Food Industry Expo ▲Yongin Youth Festival.
The 'Yongin Citizen's Day' ceremony held on the 28th will begin with a pre-ceremony performance by the Yongin City Youth Orchestra, followed by the reading of the Citizen Charter by a citizen representative, congratulatory events, and more. Performances will feature musical actress Park Hae-mi, singer Tae, opera singer Yang Tae-jung, Kang Iseul, and the Everland performance team. Next to the stage, there will also be an autograph session and photo time event with athlete Woo Sang-hyeok, who belongs to the Yongin City Workplace Sports Club.
At the venue, there will be ▲Safety Experience Classroom ▲Citizen Writing Contest ▲Joayang Rice Bread Gourmet Event ▲Yongin City Master Craftsmen’s Work Exhibition Booths.
At the 'Yongin Cyber Science Festival,' events such as science communicator Jupiter’s 'Amazing Science Experiment Show,' magician Ryu-el’s 'Magic Bubble Show,' and 'Challenge! AI Golden Bell,' a quiz created by artificial intelligence (AI) for citizens to solve, will take place. Additionally, 20 science playground booths including science escape room experiences, low-carbon experiences like making balloons powered by bicycle energy, and semiconductor wafer clock making will be available, along with 11 Yongin playgrounds featuring 3D printing and autonomous robots. There will also be 12 exploration playgrounds prepared by local students, including soccer ball making, coding experiences, creating personalized satellites, and solar car making.
Notably, this year marks the first 'Yongin Food Festa' introducing local specialties. Events include the final round of the Bok Choy Kimchi Contest, as well as ▲Bok Choy Kimchi Academy ▲Baekok Rice Bread Festa ▲Yongin Specialty Liquor Promotion Booth ▲Bok Choy Direct Market.
Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin said, "We have prepared a rich program so that 1.1 million Yongin citizens can gather in one place to communicate and strengthen unity," adding, "We will commemorate the city's development together and conduct the festival in a substantial way so that citizens can enjoy it."
