It is not the same as before, but it is still the great national holiday, Chuseok.
It is a joyful day to eat delicious food and exchange well-wishes with family.
The Chuseok holiday is also long, so it seems good to go to the festival grounds and enjoy with family.

Festivals Continue After Chuseok... Yeongdeungpo-gu’s Mullae-dong Flower Garden Garden Talk Show on 21st and 28th
Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) will hold a ‘Garden Talk Concert & Green Cinema’ under the theme ‘Gardens Together, Everyday Becomes a Garden’ at the ‘Mullae-dong Flower Garden’ for two days on the 21st and 28th.
Following the declaration of ‘City of Flowers Yeongdeungpo, Garden City Yeongdeungpo’ and the ‘Yeongdeungpo Garden Festival’ held in May, the district has prepared a ‘Garden Embracing Culture and Arts’ festival to celebrate the upcoming Residents’ Day (September 28th) week.
This festival adds cultural arts with stories to the garden. It allows people to enjoy nature, art, and culture together in the garden without going far. Residents can stroll through the flower garden embracing nature and experience ‘healing’ and ‘rest.’ Research shows that just looking at a garden can reduce anxiety levels by 20%.
The festival will be held at ‘Mullae-dong Flower Garden,’ a resident-friendly garden with a sand playground offering rest and leisure, outdoor sports facilities, and a barefoot clay path, catering to all generations and ages.
On the first day, the 21st, the festival opens with a music performance, followed by a ‘Garden Talk’ with garden artists. The talk will feature world-renowned garden show gold medalist artist Hwang Ji-hae from the UK’s Chelsea Flower Show and Nam Su-hwan, head of garden management at the Korea National Arboretum. They will share in-depth and honest stories about why gardens are needed, their value, and the relationship between gardens and life.
On the second day, the 28th, the ‘Our Garden’ event will be held, where residents create their own gardens. Participants will work with village gardeners to design and plant species, creating another ‘small personal garden’ in Mullae-dong Flower Garden.
‘Green Cinema,’ where the beauty of gardens can be felt through videos, will also be held. On the 21st at 8 p.m., the inspiring true story film ‘Flower Show’ by a world-famous Irish garden designer will be screened. On the 28th, the film ‘Poetry Written on the Land,’ featuring stories of Seonyudo Park and Yeouido Saetgang Ecological Park by Korea’s first landscape architect Jo Young-sun, will be shown.
Participation in the ‘Garden Talk Concert & Green Cinema’ is available through pre-registration and on-site registration on the district’s website under ‘Our District News.’ Various cultural performances and experiences such as aquatic plant and natural moss frame making are also prepared.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “Please look forward to the transformation of Yeongdeungpo into a ‘Garden City’ where flowers and plants can be found everywhere you go, making residents’ lives more relaxed and fresh. We will do our best to create a premium city where gardens and culture harmonize, making living in Yeongdeungpo a source of pride and joy.”

Now in its second year, the ‘Yangcheon Rock Festival’ breaks away from the tradition of mainly holding events in the Mok-dong area and is introduced for the first time in Sinwol-dong as a large-scale cultural festival. It symbolizes a space open to local residents affected by airport noise and citizens to enjoy music and fill their daily lives with joy.
This year’s festival was selected for the Korea Airports Corporation’s ‘Airport Noise Damage Support Project’ and Seoul’s ‘Autonomous District Festival Support and Promotion Project,’ offering a richer lineup across genres from rock to hip-hop and indie, presented in two parts.
The first part targets the youth with a rock festival, opening with a performance by ‘Zior Park,’ a genius gaining strong support from the MZ generation. Following are performances by the skilled band ‘Band Nah,’ which delivers ordinary life in an extraordinary way, and ‘THE BLUFF,’ a rising band steadfastly maintaining rock and heavy metal in a barren rock music scene, capturing the hearts of young audiences.
The second part is a rock festival for all generations, featuring well-known Korean musicians continuing the excitement. The group Boohwal, hip-hop icon Dynamic Duo, first-generation punk rock band No Brain, and Norazo, known for powerful performances, will captivate visitors with popular songs.
Additionally, a photo zone will be set up to enhance the festival atmosphere and help visitors create special memories.
The ‘2024 Yangcheon Rock Festival’ is a free concert with all seats open, allowing entry for the first 4,000 people from 1:50 p.m. on the 28th. For more details, visit the Yangcheon Cultural Foundation website.
Mayor Lee Gi-jae of Yangcheon-gu said, “We hope residents enjoy happiness and joy in daily life at the rock festival prepared to increase cultural enjoyment opportunities in Sinwol-dong and relieve accumulated stress from aircraft noise.
