Beach Waste Collection and Coastal Cleanup Activities
Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) recently announced on the 13th that it held a Chuseok environmental cleanup campaign around Ilgwang Beach together with members of the Gijang-gun branch of the Busan Social Workers Association.
The environmental cleanup, held on the 11th, was organized to provide a pleasant beach environment for homecoming visitors and tourists during the upcoming Chuseok holiday. In particular, Ilgwang Beach has seen a significant increase in visitors since COVID-19, leading to a serious marine waste problem.
Despite rainy and inclement weather, about 100 people, including members of the Gijang-gun branch and Gijang-gun Office staff, participated in the event. Volunteers worked hard collecting beach trash and cleaning the coastal road and shoreline at Ilgwang Beach.
Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang-gun, said, "I would like to thank the members of the Gijang-gun branch for participating in the environmental cleanup despite the bad weather," and added, "Ilgwang Beach is a valuable asset not only for local residents but also for all tourists. I hope that, through this environmental cleanup, Ilgwang Beach will become an even more pleasant and beautiful beach."
Gijang County is conducting a Chuseok holiday environmental cleanup campaign at Ilgwang Beach with members of the Gijang County branch of the Social Workers Association.
