Machang Bridge Continues 'Sharing' with Local Residents This Chuseok

Machang Bridge Co., Ltd., the operator of Machang Bridge, which marks its 16th anniversary, has once again delivered Chuseok gifts to local residents this year.

Machang Bridge provided 8 million won to four social welfare facilities for people with disabilities and unaccompanied children, and delivered daily necessities to 110 Changwon citizens facing economic difficulties.

Machang Bridge is a 1.7 km-long sea bridge connecting Gapo-dong in Masanhappo-gu and Gwisandong in Seongsan-gu, Changwon, Gyeongnam. It is considered a key transportation facility and tourist attraction in Changwon, with an average of 46,000 vehicles using it daily.

Machang Bridge Co., Ltd., which manages and operates the bridge, carries out various social contribution activities every year, such as regular donations to the Community Chest of Korea, scholarship programs for local elementary, middle, and high school students, medical expense support for low-income families, and donations to welfare facilities.

For the first time in Korea, a four-tiered circular suicide prevention barrier was additionally installed above the existing bridge railings, and fire extinguishers and various safety signs have been placed throughout the facility in preparation for fires.

At the tollgate entrance, measures such as road crossing prevention barriers, speed control facilities, and emergency broadcasting systems have been installed to protect staff from vehicle collision accidents at the toll booths.

In cooperation with relevant agencies, the company also regularly conducts disaster response drills to protect lives and facilities from natural disasters such as typhoons, heavy rain, strong winds, earthquakes, as well as social disasters like traffic and maritime accidents.

CEO Kim Seonghwan said, "We will continue our social contribution activities to repay the love received from Machang Bridge users and local residents, and to promote mutual growth with the local community," adding, "We will share and give even more so that Machang Bridge is well-regarded by everyone."

He added, "Together with our major shareholder, Macquarie Korea Infrastructure Fund (MKIF), we will continue to maintain the road in optimal condition for the convenience of provincial residents, prevent industrial accidents, and strive for the mutual development of the local community."
