An Opportunity to Reflect on 88 Years of History at Jangseong Mine, a Closed Mine
Tour the Tunnel Entrance and Explore Future Energy Plans on Display
Taebaek City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Lee Sang-ho) announced that the commemorative exhibition "Jangseong Tanju Closing & Again 100," held under the concept "Taebaek Dreams Again! Here, In This Place," which has been ongoing since September 6, will be held at Jangseong Mine until the 20th.
This exhibition was specially planned along with the "Jangseong Tanju Closing & Again 100" ceremony, which marks the end of 88 years of history at Jangseong Mine and promises 100 years of new growth with clean energy.
The entrance of Jangseong Mine has been developed into the "Path of Heroes," where visitors can glimpse the history of the mine and the stories of the miners. The central bathhouse used by the miners has been converted into the main exhibition hall, featuring photo exhibitions about the history of the coal industry and the lives of miners, as well as content that offers a preview of plans for future clean energy.
In addition, murals imbued with meaning related to the buildings of Jangseong Mine and various objects can be found throughout the mine, including around the mine tunnel entrance. Visitors can also tour the coal mining equipment exhibition room, which gathers the equipment that had been used at Jangseong Mine.
A Taebaek city official stated, "Since this meaningful exhibition opens Jangseong Mine to the public, it will remain open during the Chuseok holiday. We hope that many families, relatives, and tourists visiting Taebaek will come to see the exhibition."
The exhibition operates from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
