The Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) announced on the 11th that it will strengthen its cooperation system with the police and related agencies based on the recently established cooperation framework with Telegram.

Regarding illegal deepfake sexual crimes, the KCSC plans to enhance synergy and accelerate processes between its reviews and police investigations. [Related article=Telegram deletes 25 urgent removal requests from KCSC... also issues an apology]

For example, to assist smooth police investigations, they agreed to cooperate through strengthened evidence collection, including communication with Telegram and digital evidence.

Furthermore, for cases under police investigation, they will actively cooperate to not only delete the relevant information but also ensure actual punishment, thereby further activating the cooperation system with the National Police Agency.

Along with this, starting with a 24-hour hotline established through a business agreement with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, they plan to expand joint victim-centered response cooperation with related organizations such as the Korea Women's Human Rights Institute, not only for deleting deepfake sexual crime videos but also for broader collaboration.

The KCSC emphasized, "Through strengthened cooperation with the police and related agencies, we will do our utmost to minimize damage caused by deepfake sexual crime videos and protect the human rights of victims."

If expert help is needed for sexual violence, digital sexual crimes, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, etc., you can call the Women's Emergency Hotline 1366 (no area code needed) to receive counseling and emergency protection 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
