The first-instance court ruling ordering Kim Hee-young, director of the T&C Foundation and cohabitant of SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, to pay 2 billion KRW in alimony to No So-young, director of the Art Center Nabi, has been finalized. Neither party filed an appeal.
According to the legal community on the 11th, No's side did not submit an appeal by the deadline on the 9th at the Family Division 4 of the Seoul Family Court (Chief Judge Lee Kwang-woo). As a result, the first-instance ruling, which effectively favored No, was finalized the day before.
Earlier, on the 26th of last month, Director Kim submitted a waiver of appeal to the court and paid the full alimony amount by transferring 2 billion KRW to No's account.
The first-instance court ruled on the 22nd of last month in the damages lawsuit filed by No against Director Kim, stating, "Kim and Chairman Chey shall jointly pay 2 billion KRW to No," partially ruling in favor of the plaintiff.
At that time, the court stated, "The misconduct of Director Kim and Chairman Chey, the birth of an extramarital child, Chairman Chey's unilateral departure and continued separation are recognized as fundamentally damaging the trust between No and Chairman Chey and leading to the breakdown of their marriage, thus obligating them to pay alimony."
Meanwhile, the divorce lawsuit between Chairman Chey and No is currently under review by the Supreme Court. Previously, the appellate court ordered Chairman Chey to pay No 1.3808 trillion KRW in property division and 2 billion KRW in alimony.
