Improved Public Transportation Services for Foreign Tourists Using Mobile Cars
Seoul City-Airport Railroad Actively Cooperate to Enhance Tourist Transportation Convenience
The Seoul Metropolitan Government is expanding the usage scope of the 'Climate Companion Card' to allow passengers to disembark at Incheon Airport Station (T1·T2) on the Airport Railroad. This will be applied starting from the Chuseok holiday period, enabling tourists departing through Incheon Airport to use all types of Climate Companion Cards, including the 30-day pass and short-term passes.
According to Seoul City on the 11th, the Airport Railroad currently offers Climate Companion Card boarding and alighting services at six stations within Seoul: Seoul Station, Gongdeok Station, Hongik University Station, Digital Media City Station, Magongnaru Station, and Gimpo Airport Station. However, since the launch of the 'Tourist Short-Term Pass' in July, there has been an increasing demand from foreign tourists wishing to use the Climate Companion Card at Incheon Airport Station (T1·T2) as well.
Until now, foreign tourists who entered through Incheon Airport could purchase and conveniently use the Climate Companion Card after arriving in Seoul, but were unable to use the card when departing via the Airport Railroad back to Incheon Airport. In response, Seoul City has decided to exceptionally allow disembarking at Incheon Airport Station (T1·T2) to facilitate convenient airport access for departing tourists.
Seoul City is also paying attention to the increase in the use of the 'Climate Companion Card Short-Term Pass.' With the card already applicable at Gimpo Airport Station on the Airport Railroad, the addition of the alighting service at Incheon Airport Station (T1·T2) is expected to further increase users. Approximately 43,000 short-term passes were charged and used in July, which significantly rose to about 66,000 in August during the vacation season.
Yoon Jong-jang, Director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Transportation Office, stated, "Now, with just the Climate Companion Card, it is convenient to access both Gimpo Airport and Incheon Airport via the Airport Railroad." He added, "We expect the Climate Companion Card to play a significant role in revitalizing tourism in Seoul, and we will strive to provide transportation convenience so that all visitors to Seoul can enjoy the 'Global Attractive City, Seoul.'"
