Osan City, Gyeonggi Province, announced that Mayor Lee Kwon-jae, who is visiting the United States, held an investment attraction briefing on the 9th (local time) at the Materials Maiden Technology Center located in Sunnyvale, Santa Clara County, California.
At the briefing, attended by executives and related personnel from Applied Materials, Mayor Lee personally gave a presentation. During the briefing, he explained the plan to create a 1 million square meter advanced techno valley near the planned public housing district in Segyo 3 District. Along with this, he introduced about 60 semiconductor companies located in the Gajang, Sema, and Jigot Industrial Complex areas, including Lam Research Manufacturing, LOT Vacuum, and Philoptics.
Mayor Lee also expressed his intention to solidify Osan’s position as a specialized city for semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment by developing the advanced techno valley, triggered by the promotion of the semiconductor highway connecting Hwaseong and Anseong.
At the briefing, Mayor Lee highlighted the accessibility to major semiconductor companies such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and LG, as well as the linkage with university departments related to the Fourth Industrial Revolution to secure research personnel.
Jo Phon, Chief External Relations Officer of Applied Materials, who attended the briefing, said, "We appreciate Osan City introducing interesting opportunities for semiconductor industry companies.
