This traffic system improvement project involved creating a 150-meter-long U-turn lane on Jungbu-daero, approximately 800 meters from Samga Station towards Hyoja Hill, where the Seoyongin IC entrance is located. The new U-turn lane was officially opened today after inspections of traffic safety facilities and signal operation plans.

Until now, to use Seoyongin IC from the central areas of Cheoin-gu such as Samga, Yeokbuk, and Jungang-dong, drivers had to detour 1 to 2 km towards the Yongin Mir Stadium intersection or the Yongin Hyoja Hospital three-way intersection. However, with the new U-turn lane, vehicles can directly enter the IC, which is expected to reduce travel time.

The district installed traffic signals, LED signboards, and unmanned traffic enforcement equipment to prevent driver confusion and traffic accidents following the creation of the U-turn lane.

An official from the district stated, "This area used to experience frequent congestion due to the entanglement of vehicles entering the expressway and those heading to Yongin University and Giheung Station," adding, "This traffic system improvement is expected to not only shorten the distance to the IC entrance but also greatly help alleviate vehicle congestion."
