Participation in CAMX 2024 in the US
Aiming Precisely at the High-Pressure Vessel Market
HS Hyosung Group's flagship company, Hyosung Advanced Materials, is targeting the U.S. high-pressure vessel market with a new high-strength carbon fiber yarn.
Hyosung Advanced Materials announced on the 5th that it will participate in 'CAMX (the Composites and Advanced Materials Expo) 2024,' the largest North American composites exhibition, held in San Diego, USA, from the 9th to the 12th. Hyosung Advanced Materials has participated annually since 2014 in this exhibition, jointly hosted by SAMPE and ACMA, the largest composite industry associations in the U.S.
At this exhibition, Hyosung Advanced Materials will showcase a new high-strength yarn for high-pressure vessels with tensile strength higher than existing yarns. Alongside carbon fiber, it will exhibit high-pressure vessels, automotive wheels, and bicycle frames, promoting its carbon fiber brand 'TANSOME®' through customer meetings.
Hyosung Advanced Materials is focusing on the expansion of the U.S. high-pressure vessel market. The demand for CNG vehicles and transportation high-pressure vessels continues to grow due to the spread of renewable natural gas and the launch of large truck CNG engines. With the 'Truck Carbon Emission Zero Policy' being promoted until 2042, the market size for hydrogen vehicles and transportation high-pressure vessels is also expected to expand further. The industry anticipates the carbon fiber market for high-pressure vessels to grow at an average annual rate of 16% from this year through 2026.
Hyosung Advanced Materials developed 'TANSOME,' a high-strength carbon fiber that weighs only one-quarter of steel but is more than 10 times stronger, using proprietary technology for the first time in Korea. In 2022, it succeeded in developing the ultra-high-strength carbon fiber 'H3065 (T-1000 grade),' which has strength more than 14 times that of steel, and plans to expand into the aerospace and aviation sectors.
Hyosung Advanced Materials is a core company of HS Hyosung Group, chaired by Vice Chairman Cho Hyun-sang. To foster carbon fiber as a future business, it has been continuously expanding its Jeonju plant, which has been in operation since 2013. It has established global production bases in China, Vietnam, and other countries to target local markets.
