Accessibility to Hyundai Motor Company's Namyang Research Center located in Namyang-eup, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do is expected to improve.

Hwaseong City and Hyundai Motor Company signed a business agreement on the 4th to promote the four-lane expansion project of National Road No. 77 between Hwaseong IC and Namyang Research Center.

The section targeted for expansion is approximately 2 km long, from Hwaseong IC on the Metropolitan Area 2nd Ring Expressway to Biseok Samgeori in Anseok-ri along National Road No. 77. Despite a surge in vehicle demand due to large-scale developments such as Namyang New Town and Sinnam District, this area has only one lane in one direction, causing severe traffic congestion during rush hours.

Through the agreement, both parties decided to share the project costs necessary for road construction and promptly proceed with the road expansion project to resolve these issues. The city plans to complete the construction by 2030. Once the road expansion is completed, the city expects that commuting time for employees of the Namyang Research Center will be reduced by about 20 minutes. Along with this, the city plans to actively provide administrative support for Hyundai Motor Company's large-scale investment.

Yang Hee-won, President of Hyundai Motor Company, said, "Through cooperation with Hwaseong City, we will fulfill our role as a company that coexists with the local community." Jeong Myeong-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong, also responded, "This project will provide a better environment not only for Hyundai Motor employees but also for local residents."
