Selected for the "Smart Gyeongrodang Distribution and Expansion" Contest... 1.3 Billion KRW Project Budget Allocated
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will distribute various smart devices, including smart health equipment, to 60 senior centers within the city by next year.
On the 4th, Yongin City announced that it had secured a project budget of 1.3 billion KRW, including 900 million KRW in national funds, after being selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT's '2025 Smart Senior Center Distribution and Expansion Project' competition.
The 'Smart Senior Center' is a new concept senior center that integrates advanced technology into senior centers, which serve as community hubs and main activity spaces for the elderly, to help manage their health. The Ministry of Science and ICT is promoting this project as part of the smart village distribution and expansion initiative.
The city explained that it was selected for the competition by proposing a plan to introduce various smart technologies to senior centers in the region under the theme of 'Yongin Smart Senior Centers Together with Healthy Leisure.'
With a total project budget of 1.3 billion KRW, including 900 million KRW in national funds and 400 million KRW from the city, Yongin City plans to install video conferencing systems, smart health devices, educational kiosks, and Internet of Things (IoT) fire safety equipment in 60 senior centers across the city by the end of next year. The city also intends to support post-installation management, including training on device usage and continuous system monitoring.
A city official said, "We will actively support enhancing the functions and convenience of senior centers so that more elderly people can visit and enjoy these spaces."
