Lee Jaesook, a member of the Daegu Metropolitan Council (People Power Party, Dong-gu 4), announced on the 3rd that she had proposed the "Daegu Metropolitan City Ordinance on the Installation and Operation of Priority Parking Zones for National Meritorious Persons" at the 311th extraordinary session.
This ordinance aims to honor national meritorious persons and foster a spirit of patriotism among Daegu citizens by stipulating the necessary matters for the installation and operation of priority parking zones that can be used preferentially by national meritorious persons visiting public and multi-use facilities.
The ordinance includes provisions on the locations and standards for installing priority parking zones, their use, and measures for vehicles violating the regulations. It requires that, among public facilities managed by Daegu, parking lots with 50 or more parking spaces must have at least one priority parking zone installed.
An official from the Daegu Metropolitan Council stated, "Priority parking zones for national meritorious persons are already in operation in places such as Daejeon, Gangwon, Busan, and Ulsan, and ordinances are being promoted in areas like Gyeonggi-do and Gyeongbuk."
Lee Jaesook emphasized, "We aim to spread a culture of honoring those who have sacrificed for the country and to inspire patriotism among citizens," adding, "Daegu should take the lead in honoring national meritorious persons."
Meanwhile, this ordinance is scheduled to be put to a vote at the plenary session of the Daegu Metropolitan Council on the 6th.
