Arson Incident at Adult Game Center in Yeongam... 1 Dead, 4 Injured

A fire caused by arson at an adult game center in Jeonnam resulted in one death and four injuries.

At around 1:30 PM on the 1st, a report of a fire at an adult game center on the first floor of a commercial building in Samho-eup, Yeongam-gun, Jeonnam, was received by the police and fire control center.

The fire brigade that arrived at the scene extinguished the fire in about 20 minutes, but a man in his 60s of Chinese nationality, identified as Mr. A, was found dead inside the game center. Four others, including employees and customers, sustained serious or minor injuries. One of the injured is reported to be in critical condition.

The fire is preliminarily believed to have been started by Mr. A after he sprayed a flammable substance and ignited it. It is reported that he locked the entrance door of the game center, preventing those inside from escaping.

The police are investigating the exact circumstances based on witness statements and other evidence, and plan to investigate whether the game center was involved in illegal activities such as currency exchange.
