Trump Says at Conservative Group Event, "I Wanted to Appoint Ivanka as UN Ambassador"

Former U.S. President Donald Trump, who is running in the U.S. presidential election, revealed on the 30th (local time) that he wanted to appoint his daughter Ivanka Trump as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations during his administration.

According to the British daily The Guardian, Trump attended the annual event of the conservative group Moms for Liberty held in Washington that day and recalled telling Ivanka that she would "make a great U.N. ambassador."

However, "Ivanka said, 'I don't want to do that job. I just want to help people get jobs,'" he said, adding, "It wasn't a glamorous job, but she went around to all the big companies like Walmart and ExxonMobil to help people get hired, and she employed millions."

Ivanka served as a White House senior advisor during the first term of the administration but has kept her distance from this election campaign.

The event was hosted by Moms for Liberty, a conservative group opposing the mention of LGBTQ+ identities and rights, as well as racism, in the U.S. education curriculum.

At the event, former President Trump raised his voice against allowing transgender women to participate in women's sports competitions. He also said access to medical services confirming gender identity should be restricted.

Regarding immigration issues, he claimed, "This is crazy. It is poison to our country," and said, "They come into classrooms, bring diseases, and because they don't even speak English, schools and your children are suffering greatly."

The Guardian described Trump's conversation that day as "a long, back-and-forth, inconsistent talk," noting that he made "bizarre remarks."

The Associated Press pointed out that during the hour-long discussion, he mainly talked about his favorite topics, including criticizing the Biden administration, lamenting illegal immigration, and recalling how he became a reality TV star, with no new proposals related to education.
