"Clear Political Retaliation and Opposition Suppression"… Democratic Party Criticizes Forced Investigation of Former President Moon's Daughter

The Democratic Party of Korea criticized the prosecution on the 31st for conducting a search of the residence of Dahye, the daughter of former President Moon Jae-in, amid the investigation into allegations of preferential hiring at an airline involving Seo, who was the former president's son-in-law, calling it "a clear act of political retaliation and opposition party suppression."

Yoon Jong-gun, the party's floor spokesperson, stated in a written briefing that, "After tracking the accounts of the former president and his spouse, I am outraged by the prosecution's audacity to now search the residence of the former president's child."

Yoon added, "It is surprising to see the prosecution move so swiftly as the president's approval rating plummets to the low 20% range," and claimed, "It appears the prosecution intends to divert public attention from granting a pardon to First Lady Kim Keon-hee by conducting an investigation aimed at disgracing the former president." He continued, "How much longer and how much more humiliation does the prosecution intend to inflict?" emphasizing, "It seems they plan to overcome the special prosecutor situation and the 'pro-Japanese controversy' through political retaliation and opposition suppression, but the public will no longer be deceived." He concluded by saying, "The Democratic Party will surely judge the prosecution's despicable behavior, which has taken on the role of the president couple's personal guard and the vanguard of political retaliation and opposition suppression, together with the people."
