Parents who spread mats in the restaurant claiming no customers and let their children play

"Spread out a mat and let the children play"

A story has been shared about customers who spread out mats for their children without asking the owner’s permission.

On the 28th, a post titled "There are all kinds of people in the world. But this is my first time experiencing mats inside a store" was uploaded to the self-employed community 'Apeunikka Sajangida' (Because It Hurts, I Am the Boss).

Self-employed restaurant owner Mr. A said, "Three children and three mothers came. They arrived during the last lunch time and while eating, since there was no one else in the store, they spread out mats and let the children play," adding, "They didn’t ask for permission." He continued, "Even when paying, they just paid without saying anything like 'Sorry for the disturbance,'" and questioned, "Can such people even be called customers?" The photo Mr. A shared with the post showed mats spread out in the middle of the store with children playing inside.

Netizens who read Mr. A’s story responded with comments such as "That’s outrageous," "If I say something, they’ll probably say I’m too harsh for a local business," "There really are some very unusual people in the world," and "It’s not even their own business, what are they doing in someone else’s store? This is why No Kids Zones keep increasing."

In particular, when one netizen pointed out, "They should have said something when paying and leaving. I’m afraid they might do the same in other places," Mr. A replied, "I’m still young. I wondered if they would even listen if someone so young said anything." He added, "Since they didn’t ask for permission or say sorry, I didn’t think it was worth pointing out, so I said nothing."

Meanwhile, the debate over No Kids Zones continues. However, a recent public opinion poll showed overwhelming support for No Kids Zones. According to a survey conducted by Korea Research in November 2021 with 1,000 adult men and women nationwide, 71% responded that operating No Kids Zones is "a legitimate right exercised by business owners and a consideration for other customers." Only 17% said it was "unacceptable."
