The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 26th that it has appointed Kwak Gwanyong, former Operations Committee Chair of the People Power Party's Namyangju-si (Eul) Party Member Council, as the new Senior Secretary for Political Affairs. The Senior Secretary for Political Affairs is responsible for external communication with the legislature, political parties, and others, assisting the Mayor of Seoul.
Senior Secretary Kwak has accumulated political experience based on the local community, having served as Vice Chair of the Namyangju Mayor's Transition Committee, and has planned policies representing the youth generation through activities in the People Power Party's Youth Party Preparatory Committee. He earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from Sungkyunkwan University and has also worked as a lecturer in the same department.
Senior Secretary Kwak stated, "Based on my expertise in political science and my experience working for the community in the region and the party, I will establish a permanent dialogue channel among the National Assembly, the legislature, and political parties." He added, "In particular, with a deep understanding of the youth generation, I will strive to create a 'Youth Seoul' that is a better place for young people to live."
