Achieved Top Grades in All Euro NCAP Tests
Most Vehicles Obtained US IIHS TSP Ratings
Electric vehicles built on Hyundai Motor Group's dedicated electric vehicle platform E-GMP have achieved top-level results in major global crash safety evaluations.
On the 25th, Hyundai Motor Group announced that five vehicles?the Genesis GV60, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, EV6, and EV9?each received the highest rating of five stars in the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP).
These vehicles also earned ratings of TSP or higher in crash evaluations announced by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Hyundai Motor Group emphasized that, as of now, a total of 20 models (9 Hyundai, 7 Genesis, 4 Kia) from the global automotive group received TSP or higher ratings in this year's IIHS crash evaluations, the highest among global automakers. The second place was Toyota Group with 14 models.
The E-GMP, developed by Hyundai Motor Group for the electrification era, utilizes the battery pack as a structural element in its design. This increases body rigidity, and aluminum extrusions are applied inside the side sills located outside the battery on the vehicle's side. This design disperses impact through the lower frame and battery case during side collisions, ensuring safety.
A Hyundai Motor Group official stated, "We will continue to spare no effort in research and development to protect occupant safety comprehensively."
