Until the 25th at Sejong Center Grand Theater
The official inaugural performance of the Seoul City Ballet, "A Midsummer Night's Dream," will open on the 23rd at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts Grand Theater.
"A Midsummer Night's Dream" is a full-length original ballet work that reinterprets Shakespeare's comedy of the same name into a grand and delicate contemporary ballet exploring the essence of love. The performance will run until the 25th.
The Seoul City Ballet is the third public ballet company established in Korea after the National Ballet and Gwangju City Ballet, founded 48 years ago, and is the first public contemporary ballet company in the country. In January, dancers for the 2024 season were selected through auditions, and dancers who will perform through the 2026 season were also chosen via auditions, with activities scheduled to begin in September.
The Seoul City Ballet operates based on professionalism and flexibility, producing performances through a customized production system centered on choreographers, dancers, and works. In April, they successfully completed the pre-inaugural performance "The Rite of Spring," and following "A Midsummer Night's Dream," they plan to perform a double bill at the Sejong Center M Theater in October.
