At a cafe in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, a customer who demanded a remake of their coffee after spilling it was caught causing a disturbance when the owner refused.

On the 21st, JTBC's 'Case Manager' featured a story from Mr. A, who runs a cafe in Bucheon with his wife. Mr. A claimed that his wife recently suffered from abusive behavior by a customer.

According to Mr. A, on the afternoon of the 20th while his wife was managing the cafe, a female customer came in and ordered two Americanos and three lattes. When the ordered coffee was ready, the customer carried the drinks in two carriers (containers that can hold multiple cups of coffee) placed in the cafe.

However, shortly after, the customer returned to the cafe and demanded, "The carrier got damaged and I spilled all the lattes while walking, so please remake them."

In response, Mr. A's wife said, "This happened outside the store," and added, "Since we don't know how the carrier got damaged, we will remake the drinks if you pay again."

The customer then shouted angrily, "Hey, what are you?", "You can't run a neighborhood business like this," "Coffee got on my clothes, so pay for the laundry," and "You have to clean up the spilled coffee outside," raising her voice and getting upset.

Mr. A offered, "If you pay even half the price, we will remake the drinks," but the customer refused and slammed the carrier down hard on the counter. In the process, she knocked over a water bottle, flooding the floor inside the counter area.

However, the customer left the store without any apology and reportedly even complained to the cafe's headquarters afterward. According to Mr. A, the customer is the director of a local daycare center.

Mr. A said, "It might have been the cafe's fault that the carrier was damaged," but added, "If we had talked it through calmly, we could have remade the drinks, but the customer’s authoritative attitude demanding free drinks made me angry." He continued, "My wife, who is in early pregnancy, was very shocked and had trouble sleeping, even having to visit the hospital," he lamented.

The story sparked debate among netizens. Some supported Mr. A and his wife, commenting, "Demanding a remake without reason is clearly abusive behavior," "They offered half price, so why act like that?" and "It happened outside the cafe, so they don’t have to take responsibility."

On the other hand, some responded, "There really could have been a problem with the carrier," "The carrier belongs to the cafe, so they should take responsibility," and "I don’t understand why they asked for half the price."
