GSEC is an organization composed of Sacramento County government officials, local university representatives, and business leaders. The group includes over 40 industry CEOs and 22 communities, engaging in various activities such as organizing trade delegations to promote regional economic growth and attract investment.

The meeting was arranged at GSEC's request. Attendees included Barry Broom, CEO of GSEC, Gary May, Chancellor of the University of California, Davis campus, and 18 government and university officials.

Ryu Gwang-yeol, the First Deputy Mayor of Yongin City who attended the meeting, said, "Yongin City and Sacramento County share the common goal of developing as advanced industry-centered cities and striving for the happiness of their citizens," adding, "It was a valuable opportunity to explore cooperation plans in various fields with GSEC, which has a strong interest in the semiconductor industry."

Chancellor May responded, "I hope this meeting will strengthen the partnership between Yongin and Sacramento County," and added, "If the two cities maintain their cooperative relationship, they can jointly solve the challenges they face and create a brighter future."

Sacramento County is the capital of California. It leads the attraction of various advanced industry-related companies and global investments, focusing on transportation infrastructure development and innovative education.

For example, Intel established a campus in Folsom City, Sacramento County in 1984, conducting research centered on graphics, chipsets, and solid-state drives. Micron provides memory and storage semiconductor solutions used in automotive and industrial applications there. Bosch is also investing $1.5 billion in Sacramento County to build a production facility for advanced electric vehicle chips.

Investments from domestic companies are also continuing. Samsung Electronics opened a research and development center in Folsom City this January, focusing on artificial intelligence, data centers, mobile, and automotive chip technology development. SK Hynix invested $230 million in Rancho Cordova City to establish a research and development campus for its subsidiary 'Solidigm.'

Meanwhile, the GSEC delegation plans to meet with semiconductor industry clusters, companies, and local government officials in Gyeonggi Province until the 23rd to discuss exchange and cooperation plans.
