'Gyeonggi-do Family Care Allowance' Support Cases Surpass 3,000

'Gyeonggi-do Family Care Allowance' Support Cases Surpass 3,000 Gyeonggi Provincial Government

The number of cases supported by the Gyeonggi-do Family Care Allowance has surpassed 3,000.

Gyeonggi-do announced on the 20th that the number of cases eligible for the 'Gyeonggi-type Family Care Allowance,' which provides 300,000 to 600,000 KRW per month depending on the number of children cared for by relatives within the fourth degree or neighboring residents caring for children aged 24 to under 48 months, has been counted at 3,023.

The Gyeonggi-type Family Care Allowance is one of the representative welfare policy series of Gyeonggi-do called '360° Always Care,' supporting care expenses to social families such as neighbors in addition to relatives.

Since the application started on June 3, as of August 19, 3,023 households have been selected as recipients of care expense support.

Caregivers (parents, etc.) and children (aged 24 to under 48 months) must reside in the participating city or county according to their resident registration, and there is no income limit for families experiencing childcare gaps such as dual-income households.

Care assistants can be relatives within the fourth degree or social family neighbors. Relatives within the fourth degree may reside in other local governments, but social family neighbors must live in the same eup/myeon/dong as the target child and must have been Gyeonggi-do residents living at the same eup/myeon/dong address for more than one year.

Care must be provided for more than 40 hours per month. For one child, 300,000 KRW per month is paid; for two children, 450,000 KRW; and for three children, 600,000 KRW. For four or more children, restrictions are set so that two or more care assistants provide detailed care.

Applications are accepted until November, and the applying caregiver such as a parent must obtain a power of attorney from the care assistant and apply collectively through the 'Gyeonggi Minwon 24' website (http://gg24.gg.go.kr).

Kim Miseong, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Women and Family Bureau, stated, "We will continue to work hard to respect the social value of child-rearing, alleviate the childcare burden for families experiencing childcare gaps due to dual-income or multiple children, and fill the blind spots in child care to create a better environment for raising children."
