Prosecutors Demand 2-Year Prison Sentence for 70-Year-Old Man Who Threatened Lee Nak-yeon and Demanded Money

Admits All Charges in Court

A man in his 70s who attempted to extort money by threatening former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon over a long period admitted all charges in court.

On the 14th at 10 a.m., Chief Judge No Tae-heon of the Seoul Southern District Court's Criminal Division 6 presided over the first trial of Na Mo (78), who was indicted on charges of attempted extortion and detained. Na's lawyer appealed, saying, "The defendant admits all the charges and is currently deeply remorseful," and added, "We hope you will consider the fact that the defendant made various tangible and intangible efforts to support the victim over a long period."

Na was indicted in June on charges of threatening former Prime Minister Lee while unilaterally claiming to have spent tens of millions of won for him. Lee's side refused repayment, and it was found that from August last year to May this year, Na sent about 30 text messages threatening physical harm and damaging reputation.

The prosecution demanded a two-year prison sentence for Na. The verdict for Na is scheduled to be delivered on the 4th of next month.
