Yongin City "Voluntarily Register Your Pets by September"

Mandatory Registration for Dogs Over 2 Months Old Implemented
Fines Imposed for Non-Registration Starting October

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 13th that it will operate a voluntary 'animal registration' reporting period until the 30th of next month.

Under the Animal Protection Act, dogs over 2 months old raised in houses and semi-houses, as well as dogs over 2 months old kept for companion purposes in places other than houses and semi-houses, are required to be registered. Registration must also be updated if the animal dies or the owner changes.

If you report animal registration or changes during the voluntary reporting period, fines of up to 600,000 KRW will be waived. To apply for animal registration, visit an agency such as a veterinary hospital with your ID and your companion dog. For the registration device, you can choose between an 'implantable RFID device' or an 'external collar.'

The city plans to conduct intensive inspections in parks, walking trails, and dog playgrounds starting in October after the voluntary reporting period ends.

Through the implantable RFID device animal registration cost support project, the city is providing a subsidy of 20,000 KRW. Reports of changes to animal information can be made by visiting the district office in your area or through the National Animal Protection Information System and Government24.
