[Interview] "An Organization That Supports Career Growth... Inspiring Individual Passion"

Samjong KPMG Junior Career Growth Support Program
People First... Realizing the Value of Respecting Talent

"The organization actively supports personal growth. Even junior employees are given opportunities to participate in projects related to their interests, which allowed me to engage in my work with greater passion."

Mr. Go Gi-won, a new consultant who joined Samjeong KPMG in April this year, shared his thoughts after a short period since joining.

Consultant Go is a talented individual who majored in Psychology and Computer Science at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States. He went to the U.S. in the first year of middle school and returned to Korea after graduating from university.

"Having spent a long time studying abroad, I was worried about whether I could adapt well to working life in Korea. Fortunately, everyone I met at the company warmly guided me whenever I needed help and provided feedback necessary for career growth in an efficient way."

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Consultant Go planned to seek employment in the U.S. after graduation. During the pandemic, while attending classes online, he experienced various internship opportunities at domestic companies. Through internships at domestic accelerators and venture capitals such as Smilegate Investment and SparkLabs, he felt he could adapt to the Korean work environment.

"The great attraction in Korea is the opportunity to experience growth industries. When I first went to the U.S., many foreign friends did not know much about Korea. However, within just a few years, Korean culture and products have rapidly spread not only in the U.S. but worldwide. As a Korean student living in the U.S., I directly felt that change."

Seeing K-content such as BTS, Blackpink, Parasite, and K-beauty brands like Olive Young widely loved, he felt that Korea’s industries have grown rapidly. Growth potential and prospects are what he believes to be Korea’s strength. His interest in Korea naturally led to joining a domestic company. Since joining Samjeong, he has found joy and fulfillment in consulting work by exchanging diverse ideas with team members and expanding his thinking.

"I want to learn structured and systematic problem-solving methods, which are among the most important competencies for a consultant at Samjeong. By accumulating these skills, I want to develop my own perspective to evaluate companies or industries. Also, by communicating with people with various competencies within a large organization, I aim to create socially and economically meaningful value alongside my personal growth."

Samjeong KPMG plans to hire more than 250 new employees this year. Valuing 'People First,' which emphasizes respect for talent, Samjeong is the only firm in the industry that fosters experts through industry-specific specialized organizations. Upon joining, new employees can design their own learning track for three years through the junior-focused 'Global Elite Program (GEP),' which supports growth into experts. Outstanding GEP participants are also given opportunities to attend an awards ceremony hosted by the firm and a two-week overseas training program in the United Kingdom.
