Criticism from Close Aides on Whether the Camp Is Being Run Properly
Former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate in the United States, has reportedly expressed dissatisfaction to his close aides as the approval ratings of Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential candidate, have shown a clear upward trend.
The U.S. daily Washington Post (WP) reported on the 7th (local time) that following poll results showing him trailing, former President Trump has been questioning his close aides about whether the campaign is being run properly.
From Trump's perspective, just a few weeks ago it seemed as if victory was within reach. However, the situation changed after President Joe Biden decided not to seek re-election and Vice President Harris announced her candidacy.
According to the report, optimism was widespread at the Republican National Convention, which began two days after the assassination attempt on former President Trump on the 13th of last month. However, after Vice President Harris entered the race, the competitive landscape tightened again. Poll results showing Harris in the lead have continued to emerge.
WP cited five individuals close to the campaign, stating that former President Trump's anger over poll results and media coverage is growing. He has been continuously voicing complaints and asking his aides whether his campaign is functioning properly and why Vice President Harris is raising more campaign funds than he is. There is speculation that these complaints and questions could lead to staff changes within the campaign. However, it is reported that Trump has expressed support for his aides and has no plans to make changes for the time being.
