Philips Auction Special Exhibition 'Azure Horizons'

Phillips Auction announced on the 7th that it will hold a special exhibition titled 'Azure Horizons: Journey to the Blue World' at Songwon Art Center in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, from the 30th of this month to September 8.

This exhibition is hosted by PhillipsX, an exhibition platform operated by Phillips Auction's global private sales team, showcasing 'Azure Horizons: Journey to the Blue World' along with highlight works to be featured in Phillips Auction Hong Kong's autumn main auction for modern and contemporary art.

The exhibition includes works by domestic and international contemporary artists such as Nicolas Party, Ugo Rondinone, Flora Yukhnovich, George Condo, Salvo, Devon de Jardine, Lee Ufan, and Kim Mingu.

Nicolas Party's 'Tree with snow' was created with the motif of a tree in midwinter. This work is inspired by Party's childhood explorations in Switzerland and his close relationship with art historical traditions, with the tree being a widely recognized recurring motif in his works.

Millennial artist Flora Yukhnovich, renowned for her dreamlike artistic world, presents 'Tondo,' which borrows the Rococo painting style and interprets it in a contemporary way, expressing the unstable transition between abstraction and figuration. This is Yukhnovich's unique style, and 'Tondo,' composed in a dreamlike yet somewhat dark arrangement using colors such as blue, sea green, and lemon cream, shows a new painting style departing from the pink tones that dominated her early works in a classical style.

Additionally, highlight works for the Hong Kong auction will include iconic pieces by 20th-century masters such as Sanyu and Pierre Soulages.
