Wando-gun, Summer Consumption Slump Response... Full-Scale Campaign for Abalone Sales

Support from Major Retailers to Boost Abalone Consumption

Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) is investing 200 million KRW of contingency funds to support online and offline discount events at four major distribution companies in response to sluggish abalone consumption and mortality concerns caused by the economic downturn and high summer water temperatures.

According to the county on the 8th, the support targets include Lotte Mart, E-Mart, E-Land Kim's Club, and GS Retail, which have established win-win cooperation agreements with Jeollanam-do or Wando-gun.

The funds will be used to purchase live abalone (12?14 pieces) from abalone distributors located in Wando-gun, aiming to sell a total of 70 tons of abalone.

At 105 Lotte Mart stores, large-sized abalone are being sold at discounted prices through the "Super Special Weekend 3-Day Market," while 26 E-Land Kim's Club stores are holding the "Live Abalone Special Event with Wando-gun." Fresh Wando abalone can also be found at discounted prices at 503 GS THE FRESH stores and 140 E-Mart stores.

A county official said, "We hope people will enjoy abalone, which helps with energy recovery and immune system strengthening, to overcome the hot summer and support abalone-producing fishermen."

Wando-gun's efforts to overcome consumption sluggishness and revitalize local abalone production through this event are highly anticipated.
