People Power Party's Four Chungcheong Regional Chairs to Jointly Address Current Issues

The chairpersons of the Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, and Chungbuk city and provincial party committees of the People Power Party held the "Chungcheong Region City and Provincial Party Chairpersons Joint Meeting" on the 5th at the Chungnam Provincial Party Office located in Cheonan, Chungnam.

The four regional party chairpersons of the People Power Party in the Chungcheong area have agreed to jointly respond to local issues with a unified voice.

On the 5th, the chairpersons of the People Power Party in Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, and Chungbuk held a 'Chungcheong Region Party Chairpersons Joint Meeting' at the Chungnam party office. This meeting was held one month after the first meeting at the Daejeon party office on the 8th of last month, where they agreed to hold regular meetings.

Lee Sangmin of Daejeon, Lee Junbae of Sejong, Seo Seungwoo of Chungbuk, and Kim Youngseok of Chungnam expressed their expectations for Representative Han Donghoon and emphasized the need for a joint response from the Chungcheong region as they listed local issues.

Kim Youngseok, the Chungnam party chairperson, said, "When Han Donghoon was overwhelmingly elected at the last party convention, I felt that there was a strong desire for new change and a sense of aversion to the existing political order among the people," and added, "As both the public and party members now strongly want new change, our Chungcheong region should go beyond simply securing policies or budgets and demonstrate a new, balanced movement for the country."

He continued, "I will work to ensure that all of Chungcheong speaks with one voice on major issues in Chungnam, such as the selection of Glocal universities, the Baebelly Megacity, reconstruction of Seocheon Specialized Market, expedited preliminary feasibility study for the Police Hospital branch, establishment of a gifted science high school in Naepo Innovation City, and extension of the GTX-C line to Cheonan and Asan."

Lee Sangmin, the Daejeon party chairperson, stated that the Chungcheong region must grow into a unified political force to keep the central party's overexpansion in check.

Lee said, "One of the biggest problems of Korean politics is the overexpansion of the central party, and the People Power Party is no exception," adding, "All authority, organization, personnel, and budget are concentrated in the central party, and this structure is inevitable as influential politicians seek to strengthen their own power."

He continued, "The new Han Donghoon leadership must work to restructure the central party's authority and budget and redistribute them to the city and provincial levels," and argued, "If the four Chungcheong regional party chairpersons can amplify their political voice to check and balance the central party's overexpansion, it will help resolve local issues and contribute to joint development."

In addition, Seo Seungwoo, the Chungbuk party chairperson, called for the additional construction of a runway at Cheongju Airport and the establishment of a metropolitan railway network in the Chungcheong region, while Lee Junbae, the Sejong party chairperson, emphasized the need for smooth progress in the construction of the Sejong National Assembly building and the second presidential office.
