Discussion Forum on "Performance Evaluation of High-Cost Drugs Based on Real Data" to be Held

The Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) announced on the 5th that it will hold the 2024 International Symposium on the theme of "Performance Evaluation of High-Cost Drugs Based on RWD (Real-World Data)" on the 28th at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman in Jung-gu, Seoul.

This symposium was organized to share domestic and international cases regarding the construction and management of RWD, performance evaluation, current utilization status, and challenges in line with the increasing trend of using RWD in benefit system management such as drug performance evaluation, and to strengthen cooperative systems with advanced countries. Major international healthcare institutions such as the UK's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), Taiwan National University Cancer Center (NTUCC), and Denmark's Danish Medicines Agency (DKMA) will participate to present their experiences in utilizing RWD and discuss future development directions.

The event is open to domestic and international healthcare experts and interested citizens, who can participate either on-site or online (via HIRA's official YouTube channel). Pre-registration is available from the 7th to the 20th on the official website of the international symposium.

Kang Jung-gu, President of HIRA, stated, "Utilizing RWD in the performance evaluation of high-cost medical technologies, including pharmaceuticals, is essential to further improve Korea's medical services," adding, "I hope this symposium will serve as an important opportunity for the advancement and innovation of the medical field through international knowledge sharing and cooperation."
