Cheonan City Council Member Indicted for Sexual Harassment of Fellow Female Council Member

Prosecution: "Intent Recognized in Case of Physical Contact"

Cheonan City Council member A will stand trial on charges of sexually harassing a fellow female council member.

On the 31st, the Criminal Division 2 of the Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Jongpil) announced that council member A had been indicted without detention on charges of indecent assault.

Council member A is accused of touching a part of the body of a female council member standing next to him with his elbow during a commemorative photo shoot following the adoption of the 'Proposal to Welcome and Promptly Promote the Extension of the GTX-C Line to Cheonan' at the 265th extraordinary session held in January.

The prosecution secured video footage from the time and, after investigation, determined that council member A's actions were intentional.

Meanwhile, after the victimized female council member filed a complaint with the police, council member A issued an apology and left his political party.
