Yangsan City in Gyeongnam has completed the Safe Walking Trail Project, which was promoted jointly by the public, private sector, and police to ensure the safe nighttime passage of citizens and prevent crime.

With a project budget of 70 million KRW, 112 location marker safety report signs equipped with solar panels were installed at 50-meter intervals on the existing pedestrian light poles along the Yangsancheon (from Yangsan Station to near Namyangsan Station, 2.5 km) and Hoeyagang (from Pyeongsan Bridge to near Ungsang 119 Safety Center, 4.7 km) walking trails. Each sign was assigned a location number, allowing the Yangsan Police Station to respond quickly in emergencies.

This project was carried out through on-site inspections and consultations regarding installation locations with the Yangsan Police Station and the Gender-Responsive City Citizen Participation Group. Even after completion, continuous monitoring of the project results will be conducted to increase attention to areas vulnerable to safety issues for citizens.

This project is expected to not only alleviate citizens' anxiety during nighttime walks and enable rapid response in emergencies, but also contribute to crime prevention and the creation of a safe living environment for socially vulnerable groups such as women.
