"Just Tried to Make Some Money"... Lost Everything After Withdrawing from Biden Candidacy

Ordered Campaign Goods for Presidential Election, Resulting in Massive Losses

Since Joe Biden, the President of the United States, withdrew from the Democratic presidential primary, the 'T-shirt business' targeting him has also been facing consecutive setbacks.

The US local media outlet USA Today reported on the 24th (local time) the story of a businessman who is at risk of incurring losses after placing a large order of T-shirts bearing mocking phrases related to President Biden.

The businessman reportedly ordered about 20,000 T-shirts with the phrase "XXUK JOE BIDEN." T-shirts, flags, and other items featuring mocking slogans aimed at presidential candidates tend to be very popular during the campaign period. In addition, the businessman had also prepared blankets with "Say Good night, Sleepy Joe," socks with "It's All Joever This November," and "MAGA 2024" socks.

However, after President Biden recently voluntarily withdrew from the presidential race, all these products became useless. The businessman told USA Today, "I was proud to run a flag manufacturing company in the Midwest that insulted President Biden," adding, "Now I am worried about how to handle the 20,000 flags already printed."

He added, "I can't just magically change every name on the flags to Harris," and "The insult 'Sleepy' is not appropriate for the energetic Harris."

The businessman also said he does not want to make money using phrases that insult Vice President Kamala Harris. He said, "My children find Harris inspiring and interesting," and "I no longer want to spread negative messages to make money."

In the United States, 'goods' featuring messages related to presidential candidates are excellent business items during campaign periods. Former President Donald Trump is also known to have raised campaign funds by selling goods bearing his name. Last year, he even sold his 'mugshot' T-shirts as part of a fundraising event.

Regarding this, USA Today stated, "The target of Republican attacks will now shift to Vice President Harris," but also noted, "It appears that products such as flags, stickers, and hats insulting Vice President Harris have not yet been prepared."
