[Polpol News] Next Presidential Approval Ratings: Lee Jae-myung 22%, Han Dong-hoon 19%, Jo Guk 5%

President Yoon Seok-yeol's Approval Rating Falls 1%p to 28%

In a public opinion poll on preferred candidates for the next president, Lee Jae-myung, the candidate for the Democratic Party of Korea, received 22%, while Han Dong-hoon, the candidate for the People Power Party, received 19%.

According to a Gallup Korea poll released on the 26th (conducted from the 22nd to the 25th via wireless phone interviews with 1,001 respondents aged 18 and over), when asked who would be a good political leader to lead the country, i.e., a future presidential candidate (open-ended question), respondents answered as above. Compared to the first week of July (survey conducted from the 2nd to the 4th), Lee’s support rate dropped by 1 percentage point, while Han’s increased by 2 percentage points.

Following them were Cho Guk, leader of the Cho Guk Innovation Party, with 5%; Lee Jun-seok, member of the Reform New Party; Hong Jun-pyo, mayor of Daegu; and Won Hee-ryong, former Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, each with 3%; Oh Se-hoon, mayor of Seoul, with 2%; and Ahn Cheol-soo, member of the People Power Party, with 1%. Thirty-eight percent did not mention any specific person.

Regarding President Yoon Suk-yeol’s performance in office, 28% gave a positive evaluation, saying he is doing well. This is a 1 percentage point decrease from last week’s survey. Negative evaluations, saying he is doing poorly, rose by 3 percentage points to 63%.

In terms of party support, the People Power Party received 35%, the Democratic Party 27%, the Cho Guk Innovation Party 9%, and the non-affiliated group 23%. Support rates for the People Power Party and the Democratic Party remained unchanged from last week, while support for the Cho Guk Innovation Party increased by 1 percentage point.
